Gobotix’s GoTRAX system  reached a new milestone in June with the successful fitting of a fully functional prototype to one of Chiltern Railway’s passenger trains operating out of Marylebone.  The camera unit fits neatly behind the windscreen collecting data during all normal operating conditions.  The data is passed to the lab through Chiltern’s network where it is processed and enables our scientists to further develop and enhance the accuracy of the system.

The trials continue with plans to collect data in a wide range of conditions such as  bright sunshine, darkness, heavy rain, fog and snow. The beautiful early summer weather has certainly obliged for the first set of conditions and we eagerly await the coming of  autumn and winter to achieve the full data set. *The Gobotix test-lab can provide simulated flood, snow and other difficult conditions but there is nothing like the real thing to fully prove the system’s capabilities.
