• GoTRAX requires NO MAP on the train mounted camera system. The map correlation and positioning of train can be processed server-side only.
• The data bandwidth required is very low. The train’s point-history is maintained by the server and the GoTRAX system only transmits speed, distance travelled since last point, and direction taken at last point so the quality of service requirements of the GSM/communications used to relay the GoTRAX data are very low.
• The GoTRAX server-side system can detect when the actual railway layout has changed since every GoTRAX system on every train passing a modified/changed set of points will report the points in a new position. The server-side system then identifies that something has changed and flags this to the operator who only needs to confirm an update to the server’s map.
• No additional infrastructure is required for positioning. GoTRAX detects and tracks the most obvious high-level features in the image, the rails themselves. No additional maintenance is required.
• GoTRAX functions in all rail-operable weather conditions in day and night. It can be used on indoor environments in the dark i.e. London Underground
The outputs from GoTRAX can be used to enable various other technologies and systems such as:
• Complimentary alternative to GPS and infrastructure positioning systems for use in safety critical alternative signalling mechanisms. GoTRAX can be fused server side with other data collected from other systems to provide a very robust alternative signalling system.
• The same camera can be used to process for intruder detection and perform obstacle detection and emergency braking.
• Can enhance Driver Advisory Systems (DAS); For example, carriage door to platform alignment information containing distance to stopping position and recommended target speed can be sent to the driver
• Real-time Up to date information for Passenger Information Systems.
• Forward facing CCTV substitute
